In November of 2012, the Kingwood High School band (KM4B) and I took a trip to San Diego, CA. My favorite part of the trip, however, was the trains! The main station is extremely active with commuter trains, Amtrak, light rail trolleys, and sometimes BNSF. I also was extremely lucky to get a GREAT hotel view of the tracks, and I was there just day before the quiet zone opened! I had very little time to railfan though, and my only camera was my cell phone that took bad videos, but I still got many unforgettable finds.
